After 25 incredible years of volunteer service, Kit Day has announced her retirement from her role as Special Chief Inspector with the Cambridgeshire Special Constabulary. Her policing journey began in December 1999 as a Special Constable with Herts Police in St Albans, and over the next quarter-century she rose through the ranks, serving as Special Sergeant, Special Inspector and ultimately as Special Chief Inspector, leading teams across two counties and a range of operational roles from Roads Policing to covert operations. Along the way, Day embraced opportunities to train with international reserve officers including participation in the 2003 Reserve Police Officer Association (RPOA) conference in NYC, an event attended by some current VLEOA Members. She strived to build community-focused policing initiatives, demonstrating the depth of commitment volunteer officers bring to public safety. Though retiring from formal duty, she will continue serving as a Public Service Volunteer (PSV) supporting cadets, a testament to her lifelong dedication to policing and community engagement.
