Belleville’s “Badge of Kindness”: A Retired Auxiliary & Special Constable Keeps Serving beyond retirement.

In Belleville, Ontario, longtime community volunteer Harry Burley—who began his service as an auxiliary constable with the Belleville Police Service in 1988—has continued his dedication even after his 2024 retirement as a special constable. Harry serves as the ambassador at the Downtown Community Policing office. The Loyalist College alumnus is recognized not for arrests or high-profile investigations, but for his consistent presence, friendly outreach and the way he still “wears the badge of kindness” in the city he has called home his whole life.
