The Georgia law enforcement community is mourning the loss of Reserve Police Sergeant Michael L. Pritchett, a veteran public servant whose career spanned decades of service in both full-time and reserve law enforcement. Pritchett, a retired Atlanta Police Department officer and active Reserve Sergeant with the Fort Valley Police Department, was found deceased outside his home in Jonesboro on June 15. Colleagues remembered him as a dedicated officer who continued serving his community long after his retirement from full-time policing, choosing to remain active in public safety through the reserve ranks. His passing is a poignant reminder of the countless retired officers who continue to give back through reserve and volunteer programs, bringing years of experience, mentorship, and leadership to the next generation of law enforcement professionals. As investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding his death, tributes continue to pour in honoring a man whose commitment to service never ended with retirement.
