Long-time Tampa reserve officer Harold Jones has passed away. He is remembered for 38 years of dedicated service.


The Tampa Police Department has announced the passing of Reserve Officer Harold Bernard Jones, who served the city of Tampa with unwavering commitment for 38 years. Officer Jones began his career as an emergency dispatcher for the city before transitioning to patrol and reserve duties, and in 2023 he was honored as the department’s Reserve Officer of the Year. Throughout his career, he was known for his positive impact on colleagues and community members alike, making Tampa safer and strengthening public trust. He passed away on October 27, 2025, following a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity, and compassion.
