The Cambridgeshire Constabulary has welcomed a new class of Volunteer Police Officers, reinforcing the vital role that volunteers continue to play in supporting frontline policing and strengthening relationships with the communities they serve. During a formal attestation ceremony at the force's headquarters in Huntingdon, the new volunteers took their oath of office before beginning their service alongside regular officers. As warranted volunteer officers, they will perform many of the same policing duties as their full-time colleagues, including neighborhood patrols, responding to incidents, supporting public events, and engaging with local communities. Their appointment reflects the continued success of the Special Constabulary model in the United Kingdom, where dedicated volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service each year while balancing careers, families, and other commitments. By investing their time and skills in public service, these new Volunteer Police Officers will help enhance community safety and demonstrate the enduring value of volunteer policing in modern law enforcement.
