Richland County Sheriff's Department Reserve Deputy Lamont "Chris" Christian has been awarded the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian honor, recognizing a lifetime of exceptional service to the state, the nation, and his community.
A retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major and former senior enlisted leader at Fort Jackson, Christian has continued his commitment to public service long after his military retirement by serving as a Reserve Deputy with the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Leon Lott and members of the department surprised Christian with the prestigious award in recognition of his extraordinary leadership, military achievements, and ongoing dedication to serving others.
His continued volunteer service as a Reserve Deputy reflects a lifelong commitment to protecting and strengthening the community, demonstrating that leadership and service extend well beyond an active-duty military career. Christian's recognition serves as a testament to the significant contributions that reserve law enforcement officers make both in uniform and within the communities they proudly serve.
