The City of Jackson has appointed John “J.T.” Moore as its new Chief of Police, marking the culmination of a law enforcement journey that began as a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. Moore’s career path reflects the important role reserve and volunteer policing programs can play in developing future law enforcement leaders. According to city officials, Moore attended the Los Angeles Police Academy and served as an LAPD reserve officer before continuing a distinguished career in Alabama law enforcement and military service. After years of service across multiple Alabama agencies and more than a decade with the Jackson Police Department, Moore was officially sworn in as chief this week, bringing with him decades of patrol, leadership, and public safety experience rooted in both volunteer and professional policing.
