Seminole County Florida Sheriff Honors Fallen Reserve Deputy on December 29 Remembrance

December 29 marked a somber anniversary in the history of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office as the agency remembered Volunteer Deputy Sheriff George Pfeil, who was fatally ambushed on that day 1977. A retired New York City Police Department officer who continued his service as a reserve deputy in Florida, Pfeil was killed after intervening in an armed robbery in Longwood, making the ultimate sacrifice while wearing the uniform he chose to keep serving his community. The Sheriff’s Office shared a memorial video featuring home movies and family reflections, honoring Pfeil’s commitment and the legacy of all law-enforcement volunteers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
