When a violent explosion ripped through Swindon’s Groundwell Industrial Estate last September, it was Special Constable Calvin Caunter and his partner, who was serving only her second shift as a Special Constable, to be the first to report the explosion and arrive on the scene. The volunteer officers were positioned just outside the industrial estate when the blast occurred and immediately responded to the unfolding emergency, becoming the first law enforcement personnel on scene.
