The Will County Sheriff’s Office has announced the sudden passing of Kevin “Kollins” Hedemark, who most recently served as the agency’s Public Information Officer and held the rank of Lieutenant in its Auxiliary Unit. Hedemark joined the auxiliary in 2006 and earned multiple honors—being named Auxiliary Deputy of the Year in 2011, Auxiliary Supervisor of the Year in 2017, and in 2024 receiving the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for over 4,000 volunteer hours.
With a distinguished earlier career spanning more than 35 years in broadcasting and public relations, Hedemark brought professionalism, compassion and community service to both his media and public-safety roles.
His unexpected passing following a medical issue has deeply affected colleagues, community partners and dozens of residents who counted on his leadership and voice.
