Badges, Service & Commitment: Chesapeake Welcomes New Auxiliary Deputies

1 min read

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office has welcomed three new members of its Auxiliary Corps, with Sheriff Wallace Chadwick III presenting each new deputy with their badge and credentials. Auxiliary Deputy R. Wilson II, Auxiliary Deputy J. Lurie, and Auxiliary Deputy M. McCleery now join the department’s volunteer law-enforcement team dedicated to serving the citizens of Chesapeake.

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Auxiliary Deputy Corps is made up of volunteers committed to professionalism, community service, and supporting the Sheriff’s Office. Members complete a background investigation and prescribed training, serve a probationary period, and are required to complete the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Auxiliary Deputy Academy when offered.

The addition of these three deputies demonstrates the continuing importance of volunteer personnel as a force multiplier for local law enforcement. Auxiliary deputies bring their time, training, and commitment to the community while becoming an integral part of the broader public-safety mission. Their decision to volunteer is a powerful example of citizens stepping forward to serve alongside their professional law-enforcement counterparts.
