The California Reserve Peace Officers Association brought together reserve officers, law enforcement leaders, and public safety professionals for the 2026 Bay Area Reserve Officer Conference, where one message stood out: the future of policing depends on leveraging the unique skills and expertise of community volunteers. During a panel discussion, Santa Clara County Undersheriff Doty and fellow leaders highlighted how professionals from fields such as technology, medicine, analytics, and emergency management are helping strengthen reserve programs and enhance public safety. The conference also showcased the success of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit, whose members continue to demonstrate the value that trained reserve deputies bring to modern law enforcement. Officials encouraged community members interested in serving part-time to consider joining the growing ranks of reserve law enforcement professionals.
