Full-Time Police Captain, Dedicated Reserve Sheriff's Lieutenant, Respected Mentor. Remembering a Leader Who Served Both of His Departments and His Community

Northwest Arkansas is mourning the loss of Chris Kelley, a respected law enforcement leader whose career was defined by service at both the full-time and volunteer levels. Kelley served as a Captain with the Centerton Police Department while simultaneously dedicating his time as a Reserve Lieutenant with the Benton County Sheriff's Office, where he was recognized as a leader, mentor, and tireless advocate for public safety. Colleagues described him as a professional who invested deeply in both the officers he supervised and the communities he served. His passing following an explosion at his farm has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the region, reflecting the impact he had through years of service in uniform. Kelley’s career stands as a powerful example of how reserve officers continue to play vital leadership roles alongside their full-time law enforcement responsibilities.
