The Texas law enforcement community is mourning the loss of Jasper County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Paul Tomplait, whose lifelong commitment to public service continued long after his retirement from full-time law enforcement.
Deputy Tomplait, 63, dedicated many years to serving the citizens of Southeast Texas, first with the Chambers County Sheriff's Office and later with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, where he faithfully served as a full-time deputy before retiring. Rather than stepping away from the profession he loved, Tomplait continued protecting his community as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, volunteering his time, experience, and leadership in support of the Sheriff's Office. In announcing his passing, Sheriff Chuck Havard remembered Tomplait as a deputy whose loyalty, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on the agency and the citizens of Jasper County. His life is a testament to the dedication shared by so many reserve deputies who continue answering the call to serve even after retirement, proving that public service is not simply a career, it is a lifelong commitment.
The VLEOA extends its deepest condolences to Deputy Tomplait's family, friends, and his law enforcement family during this difficult time.
