Pierceton is saying farewell to a dedicated public servant, as Town Marshal Jim Bumbaugh announced his retirement effective November 30, following more than two decades of law-enforcement service.
Bumbaugh reflected on his journey — beginning as a reserve deputy in 2002 before joining full time in 2003 — and expressed pride in leaving the department stronger, more professional, and better equipped than when he began.
He thanked the town council, his fellow officers, and the community for their trust and partnership, saying it’s been “an honor to wear this badge … and to call this community my home.”
