Vance “Lee” Freeman, a veteran law-enforcement professional with nearly 30 years of experience, including service with the U.S. Marines, Pine Bluff Police Department, and the DEA, has announced his campaign for Cleveland County Sheriff with a focus on restoring and strengthening the department’s Reserve Deputy program. Freeman says his deep background in narcotics enforcement and community policing gives him insight into how additional personnel can enhance public safety, and that bringing back a robust reserve force will provide volunteer officers with opportunities to support full-time deputies in patrol, community events and emergency responses. His proposal reflects a broader effort to engage more community volunteers in law enforcement roles and expand the Sheriff’s Office’s capacity to serve Cleveland County residents.
